Excerpt from the SEMINAR  "The Virtue of Patience and Resignation" AT THE VI-KIEN MEDITATION CENTER  - 16 April 1986

Today, we start our seminar with learning how to appreciate the virtue of patience and resignation. Why do you have to dedicate yourselves to spiritual cultivation? What is the purpose of spiritual cultivation?

To build the virtue of patience and resignation in our inner consciousness.

So does patience and resignation bring any benefit to us?

We see that the whole universe, heaven, earth, the buddhas and immortals all have succeeded through their virtue of patience and resignation.

Modern science also needs to wait with patience and resignation, and keeps learning and evolving in order to achieve success.

The universe is no different. We are a pure soul on this earth. The soul governs the microcosm, the micro-universe. If we are the master of this microcosm, but we lack patience and resignation, how can we evolve higher?

Therefore, today, we have seen the influence of the material world. The intelligent mind of humans has given us innumerable contributions. But now we see that we lack patience and resignation.

We only take advantage of the material benefits, but we lack patience and resignation. So, we must return to our soul in order to perceive the eternal flux of energy which has nourished our spiritual consciousness. We must persevere and learn patience and resignation with a spirit of harmony, so that we may have the opportunity to become one with all spheres on our evolution path.

The more we practice patience and resignation, the more brightness we will bring to our inner consciousness. The more we practice patience and resignation, the more we will develop our spiritual consciousness.

What is patience?

We practice patience in order to progress; it does not mean sitting idly. What is the purpose of patience? We practice patience to advance, but where do we advance?

We advance with a light consciousness. We do not advance through adverse reactions in an agitated environment. In contrary, we practice patience and resignation to ascend higher in order to return to pure energy. It does not mean to sit there and hold on to anger and discontent, this is not the correct way to practice patience and resignation!
