Extract from the lecture by Master Vĩ Kiên

“The Spiritual Journey”, Montreal, 29 May 1983

A spiritual adept cannot simply make a claim that they cultivate themselves spiritually, but they must prove it!

What is our behavior in society? For example, how do we behave at work, etc.

If you are not orderly, your boss will not pay you!

First, even if you are very poor, you must wear suitable clothes to your interview. If you wear ragged clothes, you will certainly not be hired!

In the present society, we do not lack material means. Therefore, we must be presentable.

We should look bright-faced and polite in order for our boss to give us our salary.

If you lack order and discipline, don’t expect to get anything! This is just a small example…

When we return to our family, we must restore order, then, our spiritual cultivation will also become orderly within our inner consciousness.

If in the external world, we lack order even for a trivial thing, such as not being able to wash our bowl after eating, what else can we do?

Therefore, we should not create a paralyzing situation, whereas we are capable of doing it. If we avoid heavy jobs and look for easy ones, how can we develop ourselves? Everything must be orderly. We cannot speak irresponsibly, and we cannot work irresponsibly!

We see that it is a trivial thing, but if we cannot do a small job correctly, let’s not even count on a big job! Regardless of our planning, we will certainly fail. Our work must happen gradually and within order, it cannot happen without any order.

If you are unable to accomplish a small task, let’s not even discuss a bigger task. Therefore, we see that there is always a probation time: when you enter a company, you are assigned a small task to see if you disdain it. Do you accept to do it? Do you do it in an orderly manner? Before we talk about a bigger task.

People will never put you in a high position, when you cannot even accomplish a small task. In that case, how can you manage a whole organization? Whatever we say, we must be able to accomplish it no matter what. These people are a precious gift for society, for humanity.  Similarly, spiritual training is also a precious gift for humanity.

Spiritual cultivation knows no limits. You are currently perfecting yourselves spiritually everywhere without knowing it.

You say, “I must find a spiritual method…”, then you keep searching for a spiritual method and put the blame on that method for your failure, but you do not know how to blame your own disorderliness and your own ignorance!

A person who has lost order and discipline is not worthy to be a human among other humans. They always generate chaos, a lack of transparency and a lack of clarity.
