Question: Can a person with a sick body cultivate himself spiritually?

Answer: Spiritual cultivation comes from one’s consciousness, not from one’s body.  When our consciousness turns to benevolence and the World Above, we are cultivating ourselves spiritually. It requires neither sitting nor standing. With a steadfast heart, one can cultivate oneself spiritually in any situation. A true practitioner must resolutely detach himself from the vicissitudes of life.

Psalm

When the heart and mind are pure and light, this is true spiritual cultivation,

Those who reproach or criticize others only cause sufferings and remain blinded,

Without a righteous knowledge, they are unable to develop their spiritual mind,

Lacking benevolence, they perpetuate their own ignorance.
