Extract of Lecture by Master Vĩ-Kiên in Montreal, 16 October 1983
The spiritual opportunity that we have is not the fact that one person will succeed in their spiritual perfection, but the fact that we are all brothers and sisters, and we all belong to the same family. We are the children of God, and not the children of ordinary people. Let’s not be deluded!
We all have one Divine Father, and we live in the same universe, in one family. Therefore, we feel a great affection towards each other, we exchange our spiritual experiences with each other, and we learn from each other. We utilize the natural circumstances, i.e., the actions and reactions that we encounter, in order to awaken our spiritual consciousness.
It is inevitable that we must go through agitated situations, then we will cause our own sufferings and darkness if we turn toward the external world. On the other hand, if we perfect ourselves spiritually and meditate, we will awaken our consciousness, and we will naturally utilize our innate wisdom. Only then will we be able to generate our own ray of sunshine, the light of serenity.
At that time, we will truly appreciate the spiritual fragrance, and we will see the path of lessening sufferings and spreading joy. Only when we awaken our consciousness and attain serenity, will we be able to reach this stage. The school of life has shown us clearly: We learn to be a child, then an adult, we learn to become educated, but all this learning only belongs to the external world, and we do not truly utilize our innate abilities.
Today, we must engage ourselves to practice meditation in order to utilize our innate abilities. If everyone is clearly aware that we belong to one family, and that we have responsibilities towards this whole universe, will this planet earth fall into destruction? Not at all! Only the rivalries and intransigence, the darkness will be destroyed, and those people will also destroy themselves. Therefore, the nuclear bombs are produced to be set aside only. In the future, everyone will awaken their consciousness after hearing all the appeals Wars will break out everywhere to awaken the consciousness of humans. Humans will turn towards spirituality to cultivate their mind and their character. They will search for their true origin and the path of spiritual evolution. At that time, the nuclear bombs will probably be useless and they will be at the service of mankind to provide humans a safe haven, much safer than in the previous numerous lifetimes.
Therefore, Heaven is just awaiting the spiritual awakening of mankind! All religions on earth have appealed humans to become aware of the end of the world and to awaken their spiritual consciousness. All religions have appealed equally. In Buddhism and other spiritual faiths, people talk about the Return of the Maitreya Buddha. In Christianity, one also talks about the Day of the Last Judgement. Why? So that we have an opportunity to awaken our consciousness and return to our own righteous way of thinking. We must abandon our impure desires, our greediness which leads to a senseless destruction.
As meditation practitioners, we can see it more and more clearly each day. However, there are some of you who would meditate for a while, then abandon the practice. Then, you would feel stressed and discontent. However, if we maintain our serenity, we will be able to turn within to increase our awareness. We have questions and we have answers. We are controlling our own path of spiritual evolution. At that time, our spiritual consciousness will be truly enriched. We truly live with the whole universe. We have an eternal soul, we are not ordinary humans, and we cannot act in a narrow-minded and stingy way like this earthly world does. We must progress towards a noble and subtle consciousness, an open consciousness, we must love compassionately and work constructively. We should not use argumentation to cause unwise rivalries and intransigence. We must use our spiritual progress to attain equilibrium and self-awakening, and advance in accordance with our own spiritual level.
Today you have expressed precious words coming from a true meditation practitioner. You have understood the silent meaning of your own spiritual awakening. This is the value of meditation. We should not be doubtful and raise questions without a way to liberate ourselves.
